The Lull, part 12
Israeli-style security screening: We've been saying it for years. Look for the bomber, not the bomb.
The unanswerable question: Why is Israel targeted for so much negative media focus? Color me surprised to see the problem discussed so clearly in an editorial by Rory Miller and Alan Shatter in the Irish Times ("Arab Crimes Against Palestinians Overlooked"). Bad news: Irish Times is available by subscription only. Good news: the Tallrite Blog picked it up and reproduced it with permission by the authors. This is an excellent piece of analysis and is sure to give you a different perspective. You can read it here.
Why everyone needs a friend who is a lawyer: Susan keeps me apprised of all the really important lawsuits. If it isn't someone getting lipped by a llama, it is... well, read it yourself.
Q: What's brown and black and looks good on a lawyer?
A: A doberman pinscher.
SoaP update, WORDS style: One of my coworkers reports a home invasion when a large snake dropped out of the boidem (under-the-ceiling storage) and almost fell on someone's head. No one was injured except the snake, who is now looking for a good personal injury lawyer...
Why signs don't work: All indoor public buildings, such as malls, are non-smoking now. But laws are hard to enforce when they make no sense to people. So everyone, like these women in a Karmiel mall, keep happily puffing away. The city inspectors have better things to do than write citations for smoking.
