A Spring Storm
Cold and rainy: One thing about spring here--at least it is the one time of year when we actually have weather. One day balmy and sunny, the next day cold and rainy. Once summer comes (which usually starts by early May), the weather will be consistently hot and dry, with variations on when a sharav (heat wave) occurs. So I try to enjoy today's showers and dark sky.
Thanks, readers! Reader George spots the problem with yesterday's panic. The original date had erev Yom haZikaron falling on motzei shabbat (Saturday night). Since this is a national holiday as opposed to a religious holiday, it isn't unusual for it to be shifted up or down a bit to avoid major logistics problems. Therefore, my calendar (from my travel agent) is correct, and Gill's (from his company!) is wrong. Yeah!
I've also learned various interesting things from many of you. Thanks to Bracha for explaining my mutant lemon, for example. It is amazing the kind of bizarre trivia we accumulate in our heads!
